“Though KANE has expanded throughout the country, our roots are planted firmly in the Scranton area,” said President and CEO Mike Gardner. “It is important for us to not only give a little back, but also to show our pride in the community.”
KANE associates participate on a volunteer basis and are paid for the time they donate to the beautification project. The company plans the event in conjunction with the PA Environmental Council, PA Department of Environmental Protection, PA Department of Transportation, Keystone Landfill, DeNaples Sanitation, Taylor Borough and Lackawanna County. In 2015, over 50 associates participated in the event.
In 2016, KANE was awarded the Green Supply Chain Partners award by Transport Topics and was recognized a 2016 Top Green Provider by Food Logistics. The company is also a SmartWay Transportation Partner, a collaboration between U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and industry which provides framework to assess the environmental and energy efficiency of goods movement supply chains.
